LECAD at MIPRO 2026: Advancing Knowledge and Collaboration in the Field of HPC

01.06.2026

We are proud to report on the LECAD laboratory’s participation in the MIPRO 2026 conference, which took place last week in Opatija, Croatia—a major regional event bringing together experts in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), and digital transformation.

The conference featured a rich program of keynote lectures, roundtables, workshops, tutorials, exhibitions, and networking events, covering the latest advancements in information, communication, and electronic technologies.

Our researchers, Ivona Vasileska and Pavel Tomšič, contributed with presentations. Ivona Vasileska presented “Performance and Portability of Particle-in-Cell Code on Heterogeneous CPU–GPU Systems,” while Pavel Tomšič presented “Educational Activities and Experiences of the EuroCC 2 National Supercomputing Competence Center in Slovenia.”

Together, these contributions highlighted progress in high-performance computing and key achievements in developing expertise and promoting professional knowledge about HPC within the framework of EuroCC 2—emphasizing the importance of education in strengthening the European digital and research ecosystem.

In addition, we were honored by a visit from Anders Dam Jensen, Executive Director of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), who stopped by the NCC SLING exhibition booth. His visit underscores the strategic importance of national competence centers and their role in advancing European HPC and AI infrastructure.
